Drop Shipping, Should I Really Use a Drop Ship Directory

Well, either you dislike drop shipping, you’re a drop shipper, you are looking into it, or you don’t have a clue what drop shipping means. No matter what your level of knowledge is, I believe you can always learn something knew. Here’s why you should give drop shipping a chance.

Why Drop ship?

Drop shipping is a great idea for the small businessman who just wants to make a buck on the side. However, unless you have an incredible niche, I wouldn’t suggest quiting your day job to become a drop shipping tycoon. I would suggest drop shipping for anyone who would like to earn a little more spending money.

Drop shipping is also a great idea for the individual who doesn’t want to deal with the hassle of storing inventory on hand at their home or paying to have it stored in a warehouse. With drop shipping, you don’t have to store anything; the supplier will simply send the product to your customer. You could even request blind drop shipping if they do it. Blind drop shipping is when they send out the product but they put your information down as the return address.

There is very low liability with drop shipping. Really, the main thing you need to worry about is following up using good customer service. For example, let’s say you have a contract with a supplier who drop ships banana chairs. This drop shipper sends the banana chair but the customer doesn’t ever receive it. It’s your responsibility, as a reputable company, to make sure that the customer gets their product. Follow up with them. Following up will hopefully increase customer retention.

Many believe that finding a drop shipper is a piece of cake. Well, they probably haven’t ever had to find a drop shipper. Sometimes it’s a nice idea to recruit some help when starting up your drop shipping business. Having someone find a drop shipper for you can actually speed up the amount of time it takes to get your business running by quite a bit. In fact, some of them even offer instruction on how to continue with your business and what steps to take to have a chance at being successful.

All in all, if you’re looking for a way to get a little extra money, and you like the idea of earning it from the comfort of your own home while you do other things, then drop shipping is right for you.

Drop Ship Directory: Product Research Team

One great way to find a supplier of the product you want to sell is through a drop ship directory. There are other ways but they are incredibly time consuming and may not result in the best possible products for you to sell. With a drop ship directory all you have to do is type in your product niche or a specific supplier and search the directory for those keywords.

With GoGo Dropship, if you sign up for the Premium Package, you also get to put in requests to the Product Research Team. These requests are designed so that all the customer has to do is put in a research request on a certain product and the Product Research Team will find suppliers of that product and send them to you within one to three business days.

When selecting your product niche, make sure that the niche is not so specific that it is next to impossible to drop ship. For example, Nike brand swim goggles would not be a good product niche to try to drop ship because it is too specific. Name brand items are harder to find drop shippers for because these companies prefer to sell to brick and mortar companies who can purchase in bulk. It would be best to request swim goggles so that you get a better variety of swim goggles to choose from.

Communicate Before Taking Action

My sister recently told me a story about her two little girls. One night, as the family was sitting at the dinner table together, her seven year old announced that she and her little sister like to talk in secret languages. The funniest thing is that she followed with “they’re so good, sometimes we can’t even understand each other”. Of course we all laughed…who wouldn’t? The point I’m trying to make is that what point is there in communicating if you aren’t on the same page as the person you’re trying to communicate with or even speaking the same language?

Let’s say you want to start an online business selling flat screen TV’s. You found a company that does wholesale electronics, now what do you do? It’s very important to establish effective communication patterns with your wholesale electronics supplier. You can do this by going to the contact page or the wholesale electronics page, if one exists. Some sites require the reseller to fill out an online form located on the contact page. It is suggested that you make contact with the wholesale electronics supplier before taking action. Ask them about their program. If you want to drop ship, you better ask them about that as well; do they allow drop shipping on eBay? It may help to write down some questions before contacting the supplier so you know exactly what you need to ask them.

Also, make sure that you understand what the wholesale electronics supplier is saying. It may be fun for my little nieces to communicate in secret languages that neither of them really understand but that is simply not the kind of connection that a person wants to have with their supplier. To be honest, a little bit of communication will go a long way in business so long as both sides are willing to give it a try.

When a company decides to use a drop ship wholesaler from a drop ship directory, they are also making the decision to not hold inventory on that product. There are also directories full of wholesale suppliers at your disposal. These directories make it a lot easier to locate suppliers of the various products to be sold.

Get Out of the Box and Sell On eBay Using a Drop Ship Directory

I’m going to guess that a lot of people who are reading this post right now are in the “box”. Meaning you’ve been drop shipping for quite some time now but you’ve never used a drop ship directory to sell on eBay. Maybe you’re afraid and have reservations about drop shipping on eBay. I hope to relieve you of some of those reservations and convince you that being in the box is really no fun at all.

Step one: Realize you are in the box

Many eBay sellers are content to sell junk they find around their house, using the mantra one mans junk is another mans treasure.
